Purple Splurge?

It's been so long that I felt the urge of "wow, that's pretty!" But now I found something new...something to covet...something purple! Heehee!

The Way I Am

The Way I Am - Ingrid Michaelson

If you were falling, then I would catch you.

You need a light, I'd find a match.

Cuz I love the way you say good morning.
And you take me the way I am.

If you are chilly, here take my sweater.
Your head is aching, I'll make it better.

Cuz I love the way you call me baby.
And you take me the way I am.

I'd buy you Rogaine if you start losing all your hair.
Sew on patches to all you tear.

Cuz I love you more than I could ever promise.
And you take me the way I am.
You take me the way I am.
You take me the way I am.

He Asked, She Said

Being in the wedding biz, Jezziebean and I are privy to many moments, sometimes private, about an engaged couple. In our attempt to find out what a couple is looking for in having wedding planners, we get to ask them about their relationship. A good way to get them to open up is to find out how they got engaged. Lately, there seems to be a slew of new engagements from our friends. It's always interesting to ask "soooooooo...how did he ask you?" And this is assuming that the guy is always the one doing the asking. Then the next question is.."soooooo, what did she say???"...

You get a lot of mixed emotions, I'm assuming (since I've never been in that position), but from hearing from others, the guy must be rehearsing it for some time in his head, and the girl, either knows that it will happen or is completely shocked, leaving her speechless perhaps.

The ring has been purchased. The wedding has already been discussed with the family. Over dinner one night, he confirmed the engagement.
He said: So are we going to do this...or what?
The proposal was written on a note inside an empty pizza box.

She said: So where is the pizza?

New Insights

It's always nice to know that even though you may have had many conversations with your friends, sometimes they will give you a fresh take on a situation. Even if you are having the same conversation with them. Over and over. It may take the right combination of words to open your eyes. They have watched me stumble and glide (at the same time, I know, it's amusement for them nonetheless) in this relationship of mine. For me, just being in a relationship is a learning experience. It is not so much the giving or falling for someone (AC has said that's easy for us), but finding out what it takes to incorporate another person into your daily routine and life. It's also harder to blog about this now knowing that PF may be reading about what I write, especially about him. Not because I do not want to be open with him, because he should know everything, but it does make me a little bit nervous.

This relationship also has made me think about 100 things at one time. I just re-read the last paragraph and I digressed a few times too many. No time to make it more coherent tho, so on with the post.

Me: Relationships are complicated. It was way easier being single.

GBF: Single is easier. But relationships are more rewarding.

Me: Wow...this is coming from you? I'm impressed...

Weakness 1, Me 0

Becky Crocker said that my biggest downfall was confrontations...the avoidance of them. Who likes them anyways? I think I'm not alone. If I can somehow find a way to avoid a confrontation, I would indeed go up and down a mountain several times over to do so. And if I transfer this into a relationship situation, it's something that scares the bejeezus out of me. But I know it must be done (eventually before this little idea in my head blows itself out of proportion), it's something that shouldn't be feared. But I'm still new at this relationship stuff...so I'm still learning.

Through the Looking Glass

I have said this before that blogging is the new version of writing in a diary. The plus is that it's so much faster to type than to write and so I can ramble a lot more than before and also edit before the post becomes published. And I don't ever have to buy a new diary because this one seems to have endless pages.

While I was browsing for updates on a friend's life via their blog, (it's unfortunate that time is limited but it's the easiest way to know that they are 1) alive and 2) cognitive enough to write something.) I noticed one interesting guest comment...a few more clicks later and I end up on someone else's blog. A stranger...I almost felt like I am violating their privacy but written like a good book, I was unable to stop reading this girl's life and how open she was about her feelings. Especially when those feelings seem to be about my friend. A friend who every girl seems to have a crush on but that's a different post. She writes from so deep down a place that you almost want to go and put an arm around her to hug her, but she seems to be in good enough a place where she still has a grip on reality. Thank goodness! But I know how emotions can "cloud" judgement...something uncontrollable...you never know why you feel the things you do. Perhaps cloud is not the correct term, but it sure makes the clear unclear.

It makes me wonder about my own feelings (be it where I am in life or how it relates to being in a relationship)...on why I feel the way I do - I still am not sure "what" drew me to Pretty Fly (really, it might not be what was written but the way it was...does it matter now? ;)), but I am glad that it did and I am hoping that I will learn to express who I am as freely as this unknowing girl whose life I just happened to land on so randomly.

Comfort Food

I'm so glad that Lychee works across the street from me now. It's so easy to have a friend who I can just ring and go..."let's go eat" and off we go. A huge plus is that I want to spend time with her and we can take a breather from our daily routine...plus have at least a few laughs during our gabfest. We've known each other for so long that we're both so used to each other's quirks and well...weaknesses, if weakness even describes it. Sometimes we warn each other by going.."I'm cranky today so...just leave me be and listen to me." Most times we're both feeling the same thing...which is great, because it'll provide at least one laugh out of it.

Today I felt bummy so I called her to go find comfort food with me at lunch. Once we met up, she told me that she was bummy too - so much for comfort from another! Both denied being the main attentions eeker, we ended up consoling each other through whatever trials and tribulations we have in our lives (it feels like drama but it's really not).

Today's topic was expectations. Hmmm...yes, it could be very subjective...because if you don't voice it, another will never know what you expect of them. You might wish it and think that they understand you, but we are all human, and well, there are mistakes. When she told me about her "gift exchange" with her boyfriend for their anniversary, it literally brought tears to her eyes and she became emotional. It makes you wonder why it's a necessity in being in a relationship. They both had expectations of each other; and they both were different. It's unfortunate it brought a damper to their evening plans...and even though I asked her with "did you/he tell him/you what you/he want?", it didn't matter. It bothered her enough not to hide her emotions from him. Questions arise more these days, and I think everyone has to realize that you can't change someone and if that's not what you are looking for, what are you going to do? There's nothing "wrong" with her boyfriend per se, but in the end, it'll come down to if she can live with what is different from her past relationship. Not the funnest of situations to be in, though this could all be due to moodiness. Maybe the solution is just another day of comfort food therapy session.

A Romantic

Another interval between posts...what has happened but many little things and what it seems like one giant week of bedridden flu...all I have to say is that if you are sick, please stay away from me. And I MEAN it! :P

Who knew Mr. Grumpy can have a heart. He always comes across as well...grumpy...no idea why as we always wonder. He has good friends, good job and a relatively good girlfriend (I only say that because none of us really know her). At the rare times, we get a glimpse of a nicer kind of guy...in that he actually is caring and sweet and even romantic. Romantic? I'll describe what he means by it...

Mr. Grumpy: "Yeah, I bought her flowers on the weekend because she had to work so I went and dropped it off for her."

Me: "Wow, who knew you had that in you Mr. Grumpy! I'm impressed! (speechless really).

Mr. Grumpy: "Yeah, Costco has everything!"

Me: "Shiaaat...who said romance was dead."

Tick Tick Tick

...sitting here patiently, waiting for Pretty Fly to gather his thoughts. Why is he taking so long? 500 words...that's all...well, for post #1. The posts after that can be ANY length. Muahahah. I can be persistent too. And no, I won't change my mind. :)

Pretty Pretty Please

Pretty Fly said he would start a blog to write about what he thought I thought because I'm very difficult for him to interpret. I still question that (me being difficult) but at the same time, I am curious to see what he can express. I think it's very fair. This approach. The mind is a sieve. There could be many instances of playback once the post is published. Besides, I love to read. :) Think of it like this...an experience that can be shared...just many times over!

All kidding aside, there were other things I wanted to write about recently, and then I start to think and it is actually harder than I thought...of what things I want to post and for others (ahem...one person) to read about. This place used to be a free-for-all for me. Not like it isn't anymore, but I do notice that maybe it is harder for me to let my emotions out...or communicate it via words. Maybe I haven't found the right words yet. I need a little help.

No News Is Good News

Sometimes there's just some things that do not need to be repeated. (ie. eating bad food, watching bad movies...come to think of it, it's all 'bad' things.) And there's some things that do not require a follow-up call. Case in point, from your doctor's office. Years ago, I have asked how the process would work for annual tests and the receptionist would mention that they will call you if they have concerns. If there's nothing, you're all clear for another year. So why do they have to call me this year? When I think about it, I start to freak out. Then I have to wonder of all the things it could possibly be, but how would I know, I'm no doctor...could be a million things. I don't feel anything. But the worst part is that they won't tell you over the phone and I have to wait for another appointment. The file is in front of you lady! What gives, I want to know now...or maybe not. Ignorance can be blissful...right?

Instant Playback

Pretty Fly said that whenever he has a bad day, all he had to do is read one of my old posts and laugh. It's been awhile since I wrote that one; I almost forgot that I posted it. I cannot believe that I actually wrote all that information down. Maybe it was from a moment of weakness. A moment to laugh and wonder if I really went through that. It brought back all the memories. Of the awkwardness. Of the 'how do I get myself out of this situation' state.

Then Pretty Fly decided to sing a little tune to me the other night...I don't think he realized it at the time...he sang the words to see if it will jog my memory to the song. It will forever be ingrained in my mind. When I think about it, I can actually laugh out loud. Very amused indeed.

It's Everything

I feel a little rusty doing this, thinking back to how I used to be able to type out little stories of my day, it seemed so easy and so far away...but recently have been asked (begged..haha...kidding) to start my blog again by Pretty Fly...hmmm...I think I hesitated and wanted to modify his name too but what do I really have to hide...right? ;) Let's see how this goes...

Six months of not being able to use blogging as a method of verbalizing all my thoughts seems like a long time ago. It also means that there may be too much stuff going in my head that shouldn't be. It definitely feels like the last six months have been filled with many escapades; the good part is that most of it was eventful and I can only really recall all the good times that has happened. Most times when I am out with my friends, I would go..."I need to blog this"...or "that is so blogworthy"...especially times associated with the Strange Boys theme during the summer. Though, it was titled Strange Boys by Precious and Trouble (cuz you know you are!!) because they wanted to find entertainment and not because anyone was on the prowl. One night out brought us back to being 19, because we did end up being that dumb, or dumber as we ended up staying out really late, and getting into a strange boy's car. We made it out alive...barely, as I definitely prayed to the porcelain gods in the morning and I kept the text that Trouble sent me that made me feel slightly better, but only because I managed to read it "I feel like ass right now" and that I was the one still in bed and she had to be up and about.

My mind also had been a blur...so much so that I would not have had one coherent thought and that I would not know where to begin. At the moment, I have also wandered into an area of my life that I'm not so good at (this is the stuff you want to read about Fly guy :P). It's not like I don't want to be good at it, just never the right opportunity. Every relationship is different and luckily for me, this is a good different. So everything is somewhat new to me. I'm not hiding anything and I don't feel that I'm not communicating properly, but maybe I am about the latter. I am just overwhelmed. Don't be alarmed; it's not to alarm you whatsoever. Everyone really should get 80 questions...I'm glad I did. I feel pretty confident with the rest of my life; in that it all seems to be under control and organized - work, friends and family (ok, maybe not my room ;)). And I have mentioned that to you before. The experience I have now...definitely a first. My reactions may not be so apparent and perhaps I am hiding it...on the inside because I might think I'm displaying it, but I'm only thinking it. Not sure, but I'll work at it. I'm not trying to be difficult. I am an open book, if you ask the right questions...I'll answer your questions (except maybe one :P...you can find out on your own ;)). You could try with "depends on her mood"...LOL...but in all seriousness, my emotions for the last month or so have been all over the place. They all lead to a smile on my face, a constant one. Hoping it's similar to yours.

The great part is that Trouble and Precious are on this journey with me...with their respective SBs...what a coincidence and though we are traveling on different speeds, I'm glad we get to share this together. PF, I'm definitely a happy girl, in the end, that's all that matters (well, and that you are too).
