Purple Splurge?

It's been so long that I felt the urge of "wow, that's pretty!" But now I found something new...something to covet...something purple! Heehee!

The Way I Am

The Way I Am - Ingrid Michaelson

If you were falling, then I would catch you.

You need a light, I'd find a match.

Cuz I love the way you say good morning.
And you take me the way I am.

If you are chilly, here take my sweater.
Your head is aching, I'll make it better.

Cuz I love the way you call me baby.
And you take me the way I am.

I'd buy you Rogaine if you start losing all your hair.
Sew on patches to all you tear.

Cuz I love you more than I could ever promise.
And you take me the way I am.
You take me the way I am.
You take me the way I am.

He Asked, She Said

Being in the wedding biz, Jezziebean and I are privy to many moments, sometimes private, about an engaged couple. In our attempt to find out what a couple is looking for in having wedding planners, we get to ask them about their relationship. A good way to get them to open up is to find out how they got engaged. Lately, there seems to be a slew of new engagements from our friends. It's always interesting to ask "soooooooo...how did he ask you?" And this is assuming that the guy is always the one doing the asking. Then the next question is.."soooooo, what did she say???"...

You get a lot of mixed emotions, I'm assuming (since I've never been in that position), but from hearing from others, the guy must be rehearsing it for some time in his head, and the girl, either knows that it will happen or is completely shocked, leaving her speechless perhaps.

The ring has been purchased. The wedding has already been discussed with the family. Over dinner one night, he confirmed the engagement.
He said: So are we going to do this...or what?
The proposal was written on a note inside an empty pizza box.

She said: So where is the pizza?

New Insights

It's always nice to know that even though you may have had many conversations with your friends, sometimes they will give you a fresh take on a situation. Even if you are having the same conversation with them. Over and over. It may take the right combination of words to open your eyes. They have watched me stumble and glide (at the same time, I know, it's amusement for them nonetheless) in this relationship of mine. For me, just being in a relationship is a learning experience. It is not so much the giving or falling for someone (AC has said that's easy for us), but finding out what it takes to incorporate another person into your daily routine and life. It's also harder to blog about this now knowing that PF may be reading about what I write, especially about him. Not because I do not want to be open with him, because he should know everything, but it does make me a little bit nervous.

This relationship also has made me think about 100 things at one time. I just re-read the last paragraph and I digressed a few times too many. No time to make it more coherent tho, so on with the post.

Me: Relationships are complicated. It was way easier being single.

GBF: Single is easier. But relationships are more rewarding.

Me: Wow...this is coming from you? I'm impressed...

Weakness 1, Me 0

Becky Crocker said that my biggest downfall was confrontations...the avoidance of them. Who likes them anyways? I think I'm not alone. If I can somehow find a way to avoid a confrontation, I would indeed go up and down a mountain several times over to do so. And if I transfer this into a relationship situation, it's something that scares the bejeezus out of me. But I know it must be done (eventually before this little idea in my head blows itself out of proportion), it's something that shouldn't be feared. But I'm still new at this relationship stuff...so I'm still learning.

Through the Looking Glass

I have said this before that blogging is the new version of writing in a diary. The plus is that it's so much faster to type than to write and so I can ramble a lot more than before and also edit before the post becomes published. And I don't ever have to buy a new diary because this one seems to have endless pages.

While I was browsing for updates on a friend's life via their blog, (it's unfortunate that time is limited but it's the easiest way to know that they are 1) alive and 2) cognitive enough to write something.) I noticed one interesting guest comment...a few more clicks later and I end up on someone else's blog. A stranger...I almost felt like I am violating their privacy but written like a good book, I was unable to stop reading this girl's life and how open she was about her feelings. Especially when those feelings seem to be about my friend. A friend who every girl seems to have a crush on but that's a different post. She writes from so deep down a place that you almost want to go and put an arm around her to hug her, but she seems to be in good enough a place where she still has a grip on reality. Thank goodness! But I know how emotions can "cloud" judgement...something uncontrollable...you never know why you feel the things you do. Perhaps cloud is not the correct term, but it sure makes the clear unclear.

It makes me wonder about my own feelings (be it where I am in life or how it relates to being in a relationship)...on why I feel the way I do - I still am not sure "what" drew me to Pretty Fly (really, it might not be what was written but the way it was...does it matter now? ;)), but I am glad that it did and I am hoping that I will learn to express who I am as freely as this unknowing girl whose life I just happened to land on so randomly.

Comfort Food

I'm so glad that Lychee works across the street from me now. It's so easy to have a friend who I can just ring and go..."let's go eat" and off we go. A huge plus is that I want to spend time with her and we can take a breather from our daily routine...plus have at least a few laughs during our gabfest. We've known each other for so long that we're both so used to each other's quirks and well...weaknesses, if weakness even describes it. Sometimes we warn each other by going.."I'm cranky today so...just leave me be and listen to me." Most times we're both feeling the same thing...which is great, because it'll provide at least one laugh out of it.

Today I felt bummy so I called her to go find comfort food with me at lunch. Once we met up, she told me that she was bummy too - so much for comfort from another! Both denied being the main attentions eeker, we ended up consoling each other through whatever trials and tribulations we have in our lives (it feels like drama but it's really not).

Today's topic was expectations. Hmmm...yes, it could be very subjective...because if you don't voice it, another will never know what you expect of them. You might wish it and think that they understand you, but we are all human, and well, there are mistakes. When she told me about her "gift exchange" with her boyfriend for their anniversary, it literally brought tears to her eyes and she became emotional. It makes you wonder why it's a necessity in being in a relationship. They both had expectations of each other; and they both were different. It's unfortunate it brought a damper to their evening plans...and even though I asked her with "did you/he tell him/you what you/he want?", it didn't matter. It bothered her enough not to hide her emotions from him. Questions arise more these days, and I think everyone has to realize that you can't change someone and if that's not what you are looking for, what are you going to do? There's nothing "wrong" with her boyfriend per se, but in the end, it'll come down to if she can live with what is different from her past relationship. Not the funnest of situations to be in, though this could all be due to moodiness. Maybe the solution is just another day of comfort food therapy session.

A Romantic

Another interval between posts...what has happened but many little things and what it seems like one giant week of bedridden flu...all I have to say is that if you are sick, please stay away from me. And I MEAN it! :P

Who knew Mr. Grumpy can have a heart. He always comes across as well...grumpy...no idea why as we always wonder. He has good friends, good job and a relatively good girlfriend (I only say that because none of us really know her). At the rare times, we get a glimpse of a nicer kind of guy...in that he actually is caring and sweet and even romantic. Romantic? I'll describe what he means by it...

Mr. Grumpy: "Yeah, I bought her flowers on the weekend because she had to work so I went and dropped it off for her."

Me: "Wow, who knew you had that in you Mr. Grumpy! I'm impressed! (speechless really).

Mr. Grumpy: "Yeah, Costco has everything!"

Me: "Shiaaat...who said romance was dead."
